FAB:BIRTH - Birth pathways, CESARIAN Experience, Pain and Recovery

FAB:BIRTH is an upcoming observational study examining birth-related experiences with a particular focus on cesarean delivery pathways, pain during and after cesarean birth, and recovery in the postpartum period. The study is conducted remotely, allowing for broad participation and the capture of real-world experiences.

Key Areas of Focus

  • Pathways leading to cesarean delivery, including induction-related trajectories

  • Pain during cesarean delivery and recovery

  • How pain and recovery experiences shape early postpartum functioning and bonding

Motivation

A central scientific motivation of FAB:BIRTH is understanding how pain management and recovery processes may reduce reliance on opioid medications while supporting maternal well-being. Pain that is poorly controlled or prolonged has the potential to interrupt early bonding and recovery; FAB:BIRTH seeks to generate evidence that can inform more supportive, biologically attuned care pathways.

Person-Centered, Always

This project emphasizes that birth experiences matter—not only for immediate recovery, but for longer-term maternal health and family well-being.
